6 or 7 Years Old: Guitar Workshop
Singing, Writing, and Plucking While Learning Phonics 🧚🏼♀️
Service Description
Our workshops for children ages 6–7 provide a nurturing, trauma-informed, and neurodiversity-affirming space where young learners explore the foundations of singing, songwriting, guitar, and introductory music production. These engaging sessions alternate weekly between singing and songwriting, with foundational guitar and introductory music production skills integrated into songwriting weeks. During songwriting weeks, students play simple melodies, identify notes on the fretboard, and explore chords to bring their musical ideas to life. Through rhythm games, collaborative songwriting, light performances, and simple songs, students strengthen phonics skills, refine vocal technique, and build chest voice strength. They explore melody, rhythm, basic song structure, and foundational guitar in a playful, supportive environment that fosters self-expression and emotional connection to music. By blending early vocal training with phonics-based activities, guitar instruction, and introductory music production, these workshops strengthen diction, literacy, musicality, and motor coordination in ways that resonate with young learners. Weekly assignments with instructor feedback and monthly progress reports ensure steady growth, while session recordings provide families with a convenient way to revisit lessons. Personalized guidance through private audio channels provides additional support, helping each child build confidence, find joy, and develop a love of music as they discover their unique voice and storytelling abilities at their own pace.

Booking Policy
At Once Upon a Voice, we are committed to creating a smooth and supportive learning experience for all students and their families. Our policies are designed with a trauma-informed, neurodivergent-friendly approach to meet diverse needs while maintaining fairness and consistency. Parents or guardians must remain reachable during workshops for students under 18 in case of technical difficulties, as we may need your assistance troubleshooting. Our team and Muzie, the platform we use for workshops, are available to provide support and minimize disruption. Please note that only registered students may participate. If multiple children wish to join, each must be enrolled individually to ensure an equitable experience for all participants. Consistent attendance is vital for student progress in workshops. Although sessions cannot be rescheduled, students who miss a session can access playback recordings on Muzie to review the material. If a student arrives late, the session will still end at the originally scheduled time to respect the group’s schedule. In cases of unforeseen delays, please notify us so we can accommodate your needs while maintaining the group’s structure. Frequent cancellations, tardiness, or no-shows disrupt the learning process and may result in limited scheduling options or dismissal. Open communication and a commitment to the agreed-upon schedule help ensure the group’s success. Students unable to continue indefinitely due to physical or mental health concerns may request prorated refunds, calculated from the date we receive medical documentation. Temporary absences do not qualify for refunds unless the instructor is unavailable, but students are encouraged to use accommodations such as recorded sessions to stay engaged. By following these guidelines, we can ensure a fair, equitable, and engaging learning environment for all participants. Let us know how we can best support you on your musical journey.
