Service Description

This trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming workshop offers teen singers and songwriters a supportive space to connect, grow, and refine their talents through a balanced blend of singing and songwriting activities. Sessions alternate weekly between singing and songwriting, integrating foundational piano skills and an introduction to music production into songwriting weeks. Participants refine advanced vocal techniques—including mixing, belting, and harmonizing—while crafting meaningful lyrics, symbolic language, and intricate song structures. During songwriting weeks, participants use the piano to experiment with chord progressions, harmonies, and melody building, enhancing their creative process. Each session features engaging activities like song discussions, peer feedback, and one-on-one instruction through private audio channels, ensuring personalized support. Workshops also emphasize performance and recording skills, building confidence and emotional expression both on stage and in the studio. Weekly assignments with instructor feedback and monthly progress reports ensure steady growth, while session recordings allow participants to revisit workshops at their convenience. Discussions on mental well-being, resilience in the music industry, and collaborative songwriting further enrich the workshop, fostering a holistic learning experience. Together, these elements help every participant discover and express their unique voice in a nurturing, growth-oriented environment.

Booking Policy

At Once Upon a Voice, we are committed to creating a smooth and supportive learning experience for all students and their families. Our policies are designed with a trauma-informed, neurodivergent-friendly approach to meet diverse needs while maintaining fairness and consistency. Parents or guardians must remain reachable during workshops for students under 18 in case of technical difficulties, as we may need your assistance troubleshooting. Our team and Muzie, the platform we use for workshops, are available to provide support and minimize disruption. Please note that only registered students may participate. If multiple children wish to join, each must be enrolled individually to ensure an equitable experience for all participants. Consistent attendance is vital for student progress in workshops. Although sessions cannot be rescheduled, students who miss a session can access playback recordings on Muzie to review the material. If a student arrives late, the session will still end at the originally scheduled time to respect the group’s schedule. In cases of unforeseen delays, please notify us so we can accommodate your needs while maintaining the group’s structure. Frequent cancellations, tardiness, or no-shows disrupt the learning process and may result in limited scheduling options or dismissal. Open communication and a commitment to the agreed-upon schedule help ensure the group’s success. Students unable to continue indefinitely due to physical or mental health concerns may request prorated refunds, calculated from the date we receive medical documentation. Temporary absences do not qualify for refunds unless the instructor is unavailable, but students are encouraged to use accommodations such as recorded sessions to stay engaged. By following these guidelines, we can ensure a fair, equitable, and engaging learning environment for all participants. Let us know how we can best support you on your musical journey.
